  • The Bible shows us that we can learn a lot about living life in God’s Kingdom from our grandparents. Elderly people have a lot of wisdom because through their many years of life they’ve experienced the work of God in so many amazing ways. Sure, sometimes it can be awkward to be around them – they might smell funny or talk weird or even do quirky things – but they need to see God’s love from us, too. Watch this Generecipe from Chef Basil to get an idea of something you can do to be generous for an elderly person.

Choose someone elderly and plan a time to spend a few hours with them. They could be your grandparents or even someone who lives in a retirement home.
Go to the store and purchase a box of Popsicles and a jigsaw puzzle.
Take both the Popsicles and the jigsaw puzzle to the elderly person, give them the Popsicle and spend time with them putting the puzzle together.

Before you do this Generecipe, pray the following prayer:

“Dear God, thank you for the elderly people in my life. Help me view them as a source of wisdom in your Kingdom. And help me to love them the way you love me. Help them to see your love for them through my act of generosity.”
