  • Probably one of the most difficult types of people to be generous to are our enemies. The girl who made fun of you behind your back. The boy who bullies others in class. Or even the person on a rival sports team. Enemies become enemies because they’ve done something to hurt us and it’s hard for us to let that go. But Jesus says in Matthew 5:43-45 “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Here’s a Generecipe from Chef Basil to help you be generous to your enemy by showing them love.

    Directions:

Get a bag of some kind of sour candy.
Find someone in your life that you have not been getting along with.
Ask God to help you forgive them for any wrongs they have done to you.
Give them the sour candy and explain that just like sour candy, you have been praying that your relationship can go from sour to sweet.

Before you do this Generecipe, pray this prayer: “Dear God, thank you for forgiving me when I do things to hurt you. Please help me to love those who hurt me, and forgive them when I feel wronged by them. Help them to see your love for them through my act of generosity.”
